AS WE SHAPE THE WORLD’S FUTURE…
76"From the moment I could talk, I was ordered to listen. Now there’s a way…”
We are born to make a difference in the world. It must be true. We feel it, we know it. As teenagers we look at our parents and wonder, "Why can't they see? Why don't they fight to make a difference?
As authors, our desire to be heard remains strong. Alive and well within us, we strive to change the world!
We write, we struggle to find words that may be heard because the shape the world is taking all around is obvious – and we don’t like it.
We speak out! We point out what is wrong with the way changes are heading:
Please do listen before continuing :)
Where do the children play?

We acknowledge those who are making dramatically positive strides.
Can we make a difference?
Can one person make a difference?

Our "heroes" get millions to refine how to make killing look "easy"
Yet contradictions are ever prevalent.
There are movie stars who make their millions by exalting murder, death, and teaching our youth to consider human life fleeting and worthless. Their own children cannot even legally watch what they do!!!
We hold them up as if they are the best – our HEROES! We pay them $14 MILLION just to get the first picture of their kids. Wonder how many starving children that could have fed? (actual article of $14 M paid, no longer linked. Now what is being published states: "she was paid $100,000 which she gave to charity". The math is easily done for how much she pocketed - our heroine?) ARE WE KIDDING OURSELVES?
Quote from link/pic:
"The wait is finally over--meet Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's twins Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline. As we had previously reported, People magazine scored the exclusive pics of the new twins, while Hello! magazine got the international rights. The pics weren't really worth the hype. They're only 3 weeks old so they pretty much look like any other infant. Do you think the pics were worth $14 million? "
Can we not help but sell out our values and integrity in the face of so many contradictions?
What kind of “heroes” are we choosing to motivate and "inspire" us?
Anthony Hopkins was one of my favorite actors because he has refined his "craft" to be so believable, any doubt is squeezed out of our brains. Then, I heard an interview where he was asked, "Why make a movie like “Silence of the Lambs”?
He looked at the interviewer dumbfounded with a simple response, “For 8 million dollars! That's why”, as if to say, what is your problem? Everyone would sell out their integrity for 8 million dollars.
Do influential people like Hopkins and Jolie not realize they are shaping the minds and thoughts of our future generation? Or do they just not give a damn? They've sold out my friends - let's not be that weak.
Why do we support movies of death, violence and those that can literally make us sick to our stomachs? We voluntarily go to the theatre and pay exorbitant fees to fill our brains with what we claim to want to end.
One of my own heroes, the late T.D. Willhite, stated the obvious brilliantly, "Why pay someone else to make me feel bad? I can feel bad all by myself."
What are we instilling in our children? Is our thinking upside down?
Teenagers or our youth today still explode with rebellion. Has no one helped them see we must eliminate contradictions to accomplish anything?
Whatever we focus on grows.
“Well, just trying to get through today’s static [with hate filled, jarring to the soul songs]” emailed a young friend of mine.
What have we shaped them into if they are screaming at the top of their lungs for peace and tranquility?
Let’s fight for love, war for peace, get angry to declare tranquility and oneness… ?????
Our subconscious minds work in pictures. To affirm a pictorial negative while preaching peace is completely futile!
If we focus on the negative, we become part of the problem, not part of the solution.
Paul Scheele, a master hypnotist said he realized that hypnotizing people wasn’t a question of putting “right” thoughts in; it was simply a matter of taking “wrong” thoughts away.

Injustices seem to be growing exponentially.
Are we strong enough to understand,
exercise, and display that which we want in the midst of the drama and negativity?
Perhaps then, peace is an inside job. To help peace grow on our planet, we could make different choices:
"There is one thing that we all have in common. That is...at some point in our life, we will face adversity. It's not a matter of if but...when.
In my 64 years on this earth, I have come to realize that the difference in our success or failure is not change, but choice. Because when adversity strikes, it's not what happens that will determine our destiny; it's how we react to what happens." (- Mac Anderson founder of Simple Truths)
Might you consider "choosing" to shape our world's future with positive affirmations?

This has to be one of the best hubs I've read/watched in a long time. Thank you for putting it all together. I'll be sending the link to my daughters and a few friends.
You're so right with all you say - each of us has daily choices to make, and they determine not only our own course in life, but affect the lives of all we come in contact with.
We'd all be better people if we switched off the TV, put aside the newspapers with their focus on 'News' that is mainly negative and violence-driven, and ignored the magazines like People. Instead of living vicariously, we should endeavor to live our own lives as fully as possible, with the knowledge that our only limitations are those we impose upon ourselves.
you do your hubs very well, Sem. I love reading these.
I don't know if you're familiar with Mike Dooley and his daily 'Notes from the Universe'. Here's today's - how fitting to get it after reading your hub. His is the first email I open in the morning, and it inevitably sets my day on the right track:
"It's truly a sight to see, Nicki, when the inhabitants of any planetary civilization cross the tipping point and begin to individually accept complete and eternal responsibility for their own happiness.
Yet, this hardly compares to the mountain quaking, body shaking, polarity-flipping, hero-making occurrences that transpire when such inhabitants graduate to accepting complete and eternal responsibility for their every twinge of unhappiness."
Brings tears to my eyes,
The Universe
"There is little need for money when we're dead." That's what my father told me. If ever I see a nice car on T.V. (when I was a kid) and ask him for his opinion, he'd ask me back, "Can you take it with you when you're dead?" In response, I would shrug my shoulders and said, "No." Growing up as a Buddhist, we really second guessed just about anything any one of us bought. That's just how it was.
I tell myself that I don't want to become rich, but I do want to be out of debt like most people and have the financial freedom to help out my family and those in need. But I might have to become rich to do those things!
I truly enjoyed this hub. I especially enjoyed the "Stand By Me" song. It was truly uplifting and inspiring. Thanks! I look forward to reading more!
SEM Pro, our thoughts have an affinity... Your message contains the proverbial vitamin supplements the leaderships of the world needs to take once a day for good decision-making.
I tip my hat to you, well done as usual...
Hi Sem Pro, what a tremendously thought provoking and heartwarming hub. Tonight I am struck profoundly by these words, "If we focus on the negative, we become part of the problem, not part of the solution." Yes, let us be the change we want in the world. Beautiful!!!! Hugs with much love and light...:)
Why thank you for that SEM Pro..I will never say no to that offer given with such generosity. :)
Excellent Hub, I'm your newest fan. Informative, the music lends to the meaning of text - love this.
The brutality and negativity inherent in your species' society is changing, one freed mind at a time.
Namaste, Syl. :)
This was an amazing, poignant, uplifting, sad, brutal and timely hub. Everything you say is so true and relevant to what is happening in Hollywood, the streets, the homes and our governments. Children are being left a legacy of despair and ruthlessness. We are in an "everything goes" society. Do as you please with our consequences. No right or wrong, as NIKE says JUST DO IT..well it is teaching our children to go out an do whatever you please and they are doing just that. The blood and gore Hollywood is spewing out is a crying shame. And all for what? the fat cow, $$$$$$ to fill their bank accounts and make them even richer. Thank you for presenting this serious problem in our world, I prey that our children will be released from this grip of decaying moral values. Peace
You make me glow Syl.
Now, let's see if this demon can't stay more angelic? ;)
I agree..thanks Syl. :)
I celebrate all that which creates me. :) But I revel in most the actions I complete. It drives me wild, to be in mid-process and have to shift. So, I learned to do several things at once. Makes things easier. ;)

What a great way to show how badly we need to change the way we look at things!! It is truly sad to think that we are so excited by killing and violence that we actually need a daily "fix" of it in order to make our day complete. It is a reflection of how out of control we have let things get, that we only report the bad news, because if we reported the good news people would not tune in.
Further, I think there is a direct relationship between the need for violence and the work ethic in society today. What happened to taking pride in our work? Why do we pay the insane amounts to our "heroes" in sports as well as in theatre and film?
When was the last time you watched TV and didn't see a "Reality Show"? Are we really so desperate for kicks that we need to watch two grown men kicking and punching each other until they drop? We used to say that the Roman practice of the gladiator arena was barbaric, but what about cage fighting? Our children watch these shows and grow up thinking its alright to be this way, doesn't this frighten anyone else but me? As a race we have been focusing for too long upon the violent part of our nature, neglecting to create a harmonious balance in our lives by adding equal measures of laughter and fun. To coin an old phrase, we need to "Slow down and smell the flowers"
Great piece on another difficult subject SEM Pro, I hope it makes people stop and think and maybe enjoy the beauty that surrounds them each and every day, but is taken for granted.
Thanks for the insight and the opportunity to enjoy another well written insightful hub!!
